The club has decided to start a new under 10s team to take their place and are looking for all players, male and female who are keen to learn to play football with two FA qualified coaches.

Training for the under 10s and under 11s has started and takes place every Saturday morning starting at 9:30am and goes on for approx 2 hours. Training will take place at Chiseldon Rec. Click here for directions

Work Starts On Main Pitch
Work has started on the main pitch and the goal mouths are in the process of being filled, levelled and seed.

THis is good news and means that the pitch should be in better shape come the start of the new season.

Chiseldon FC 2nd Annual Presentation & Fun Day Review
Last Saturday saw the Chiseldon Football Club run their 2nd annual presentation & fun day up at the Chiseldon Rec in glorious weather. It was a great turn out of over 100 people including the players, parents, supports and local residents who all commented on how well the day was organised and went.

The sponsor of the event was “First City Training” who were kind enough to provide all the equipment to lay on a BBQ, music and refreshments as well as donating some of the food and drink.

The show piece of the day was the presentation of the under 10’s, under 12’s and senior team awards. As a special treat Sherie Smith, who recently won the award of Miss Swindon, was on hand to present all the winners with their trophies.

The under 10’s team were first up. All the players were presented with a trophy from the club as well as a trophy from the Wiltshire Youth league for their efforts and participation over the course of the season.

There were also 4 individual awards presented to those that excelled during the season or were acknowledged by their team mates and supporters. The awards and winners were :

Best Trainer : Jack Karpinski
Parents’ Player Of The Year : Jamie Williams
Managers Player Of The Year : Hayden Garraway
Players’ Player Of The Year : Benjamin Powell

With the current under 10s team moving up an age group the club has put plans in place to introduce a new under 10s team for the forth coming season.

The club is looking for new players to come along to training and any parent wishing to get involved with the team and the club is strongly encouraged to get in contact with the club committee.

The clubs under 12’s team had a fantastic season winning the league and coming runners up in the cup. Each player received a trophy from the club to celebrate their success as well as handing out 4 individual awards. These awards and winners were :

Best Trainer : Joe Pearce
Parents’ Player Of The Year : Conner Brown
Manager’s Player Of The Year : Tom Baguley
Players’ Player Of The Year : Gianluca Michienzi

The newly formed senior team also had players present on the day to celebrate a very encouraging first season in the Wiltshire football league and for the club. The senior team had 3 awards to hand out and the winners of these awards were :

Top Goal Scorer : Brent Evans
Players’ Player Of The Year : Steve Wilson
Managers Player Of The Year : Daniel Hobbs

On the day, the club also held a football match between a combined senior team players & parents versus a combined under 10’s and under 12’s team. It was an entertaining game where both teams started off enjoying themselves but it soon turned competitive as the goals started to be scored.

It was however youth and skill that won through on the day, aided by the senior team constantly dis-appearing to the food and drinks tent, with the youth teams scoring 8 goals with the adults only managing to on 5 occasions.

Moving forward to next season, as well as starting a new under 10s team, the club is in the process of applying for FA Chartered Standard status which will see the club being run based on the FA’s best practices and procedures.

The club also has full backing of Chiseldon Parish Council who have agreed to carry out work on the main pitch over the summer to ensure its of a high standard come the start of the new season.

Anyone who is interested in playing football in wishes to be part of the club, please feel free to get in contact via the website.

Chiseldon Senor Team Season Review & Club Update
Good Afternoon All,

Just thought I would drop everyone a note to say cheers for everyone for helping to get Chiseldon FC up and running as a club and a team. Although we finished down the bottom of the league I think we have the basis to really build upon next year.

Most encouraging is the fact that we have a good laugh after the game and a good social group within the club. Biggest thing for me is to keep that going next year and hopefully improve results on the pitch.

Just thought I would give everyone a quick over view of the season and future plans coming up…So here goes :

Season Review
Our first season was very challenging and after an encouraging start to the season we found ourselves struggling to get a regular full side out each weekend due to injuries and the like.

Our form without doubted struggled because of this and we found ourselves losing games where we should have been winning, getting beaten by much weaker sides, losing games because of our in ability to put the ball in the net and conceding too many silly goals. There were so many games where we could have been 3, 4 and even 5 goals up where we went on to lose the game because we couldnt score.

Still these are issues that can be dealt with and, if we can resolve these issues, hopefully next season will see us in a much stronger position.

On paper we look a very decent side but when you take players like Baily, Brent, Luke, Saxby, Fawcett, Battye, Reynolds etc etc out for long periods of time we were always going to struggle. At one point, I had 14 players injured or un-available. The one strong point of the club is that we were still able to field a side, which I think, most clubs would have struggled to do.

The good thing to take from all of this is that if everyone is fit next year then we wont have half the problems of this season and we will become a more competitive and a better side for it.

I’m hoping that players such as Jennings, Green, La Touche and Murrell will also be available to play next season as well which will again strengthen the squad further.

Its not to say those who did play weren’t up to standards but its always difficult to maintain continuity when you are constantly shuffling the team around and starting different players each game.

The core of the club was there, it’s a shame that we never managed to get the same settled side out week after week.

Next Season
As for as the side goes, I have agreed to take on the role of Manager next season ( unless anyone expresses an interesting in taking on this role ) and really hope that all the players from this season will be keen to play for the club next year.

Everyone I have spoken to has said they are keen to play again next season so I’m hoping that come the start of the season, we will be injury free and have players pushing and fighting to get in to the starting 11.

I do intend to try and bring in additional players to improve the quality of the squad which will hopefully help push the club towards promotion next season ( as long as we don’t have the injury nightmare that we had this year ).

Pre-Season Training
I think we could all do with a bit of a break from football ( although saying that Saturday afternoons are becoming a bit boring ) so don’t intend to start pre-season training too early. I’m looking at starting training on the 1st week of June.

Details of this will be sent out closer to the time but if anyone has any ideas, comments or suggestions then please let me know.

Old/New Season Tour
The first ever Chiseldon Christmas night out was a huge success ( gutted I missed it ) and Battye is current holder of the "Chissy Dance Off" competition. This title will be up for grabs on the end of season/new season tour.

The club is planning on touring to Swansea on the Saturday 27th June. We have a game organised for the Saturday afternoon and possibly Sunday morning. We may attempt to take on the “Mumbles Mile” but I don’t think you lot are up to it…we can make those decisions once we get there though.

Depending on numbers we may get a bus up for the weekend or we may drive up. Most players were interested when this was mentioned at the end of the season so I now need to get confirmation on those that are defiantly up for going on tour. We have a number of "events" planned, including the "Chiseldon Senior Team" awards night, so it should be a fantastic weekend…Get your green cards booked in now.

Please reply with a Yes or No if you are interested on going on tour.

Club Updates

For those that are interested in the club developments, we have attended the Chiseldon Sports & Recreation committee meeting and it seems we have the full support of the council and now have more control of the ground.

We have taken charge of chasing Swindon council to cut the grass and get it rolled more often. Therefore, the pitch should be in much better shape come the new season.

We are also arranging for the goal mouths to be filled in, levelled off and seeded in time for the start of the next season which is good for the club and the under 12’s.

The under 10’s are moving to under 11’s and we require new goalposts to be bought to allow them to make the step from 7-a-side to 11-a-side. The work on this is in progress and we will keep everyone up-to-date as and when anything happens.

We are also looking to take on another under 10s side which will see the club size increase further which will be great news.

Chiseldon Fun DayWe are intending to hold a presentation/fun day in similar fashion to the one we did last year. For those that weren’t there, we had a presentation of trophies for the youth teams, will do the same for the senior team this year, as well as BBQ, music and footballs games going on.

Full details of this is yet to be confirmed but we are all proceeds will go towards the club funds for this year.

That is basically an up-date of what is happening with the club, long winded I know but thought you might be interested.

If anyone has any questions/comments/queries/thoughts then please feel free to let me, Clarkie or Steve know. Its your club as much as ours and I hope you will help us to push it forward in to next season.

Cheers,

Lovell

Chissy Futsel Team
As mentioned on Saturday, we are going to be entering a Chissy side into the Wilts Futsal League.

Can you let Sam Bailey ( sbailey@hsm.co.uk ) know if you are interested in playing or not.

We can have a squad of up to 14 and therefore you don’t have to commit to every week if you are un-able. Games will be on Monday or Tuesday but email and texts will be sent out regularly to keep everyone up-to-date with fixture details.

Let me know and I’ll enter the team and let you know when our first grading match is.

Senior Team Futsel Training Wednesday 11th Feb
Slight change of plan this week for training. There is a new Futsel training centre in Kempry Park which we are going to use. Ive been told that the facilities are superb and has a both a full size FA pitch as well as smaller training pitches. Details can be found here ( http://www.futsaluk.net/ )

Training will start at 8pm so please make sure you are there at 7:50 so we are ready straight away. This will be a one off session to see how we get on. Directions to the centre can be found here http://www.futsaluk.net/Locations/ThamesValley.html.

To summarise though, if you are drive down from the Moonrakers towards town down the duel carrigae way. Take first left off round about next to the Mosque ( The Kembrey Park pub will be on your left ). Follow that down to the second roundabout and its on your right.

This is going to be a great session as we will be playing under Futsel rules where the main difference is the bounce and weight of the ball. The game is designed to improve your skills and ball control so should be a good laugh. Our training session is also going to be video taped and show in the bar straight after the session.

Selection Problems For Lovell
With 5 players missing from last weekend, Lovell has to dig deep in to his squad to replace the missing players. Lovell said I have a big squad to choose from but with 5 players missing and 6 still on the injury list things are looking a tad disruptive.

We still have players available though who are more than capable of doing a job and they should be looking to take advantage of these opportunities to cement their place in the squad.
.

Chiseldon are at home this week to Blunsden Res

3 Goals And 3 Points
After last Saturdays victory, Manager Lovell commented That has been our best performance all season and that level and quality has now become my minimum expectation moving forword.

A great result for Chissy after a dis-appointing result the week before. The full match report can be found under the Fixture details

Chissy Fire Five Past Hard Working Combe
Chissy picked up their first three points of the season after a comfortable 5-2 victory over Castle Combe. Brent Evans scored a hat trick and picked up the Man Of The Match award on his debut league game.

Full match report can be found under the DETAILS section for this fixture.

Chissy 10s Scare League Champions
Chiseldon U10s opened their league campaign with a very narrow loss away to last years league winners, Shrivenham and Watchfield.

The full match report can be found on the DETAILS link for this fixture.

Welcome Boost For Lovell
Chiseldon manager James Lovell has the luxury decision on which players are going to partake in this weeks game.

Lovell has a number of players, including Steve Wilson and Brent Evans coming off the injury list and late fitness tests for Paul Farrel and Sam Bailey will decide if those players make the squad for their forth coming home tie against Castle Combe.

Lovell said "There are still a number of players on the injury list but hopefully a few more will be available for selection in the coming weeks. Its good that Im able to think about using a full squad instead of struggling for fit players as we have done in the first few league games."

Under 10s Season Opener
Chiseldon under 10s season gets under way this Sunday with an away fixture to Shrivenham & Watchfield U10.

Full fixtures for the September for the under 10s team have been added to the site.

Irons Steal From Chiseldon
Chiseldons second game of the season saw them commanding the game for most of the second half and saw them come from a goal down to lead 3-1.

The Irons never game up though and somehow managed to steal a point from Chiseldon who looked destinted to take their first 3 points of the season.

The full match report can be found on the DETAILS link for this fixture.

Injury concerns gets even deeper
With the squad already depleted of 8 players through injury the last thing Chiseldon needed was further injuries in the early stages of the season.

This weekend brought further problems for Manager James Lovell when Paul Farrel went off after 15 minutes with a thigh strain and Steve Wilson was taken out late in the game.

That added to a last minute equaliser for Swindon Irons left a bitter taste in the Chiseldon mouth in their second competitive game.

Pre-season Friendlies Announced
The U10s will be playing 2 pre-season friendlies on Sunday 31st August vs Penhill Knights (11am) and Shaw A (1pm)

September League Fixtures Uploaded
The league fixtures for September have now been published on the website.

Opening Game Bubble Burst
A dis-appointing start to the season after we lost 1-0 to a hard working Pembroke side.

A 0-0 draw would probably have been a fair result but a mistake cost us the game. Everyone tried hard and put the effort in which was good to see but we didnt play as well as I know we can do.

The full match report can be found under the fixture details section ( go to SENIOR CLUB, FIXTURE/RESULTS and click on DETAILS for the Pembroke game ).

Injury List Continues To Grow
With the club playing their first competitive league game this coming Saturday, the manager has had to re-think his opening squad dramatically after his injury list continued to grow.

With 8 players currently sitting on the injured list it does give other players the chance to prove their worth and cement their place in the squad. The squad for the opening game is looking strong and with players coming back from injury over the next few weeks, competition for places will really be hotting up.

Chiseldon In The Papers
With the pre-season already coming to an end, the focus of the league becomes the main topic of discussion.

Chiseldon were featured in the advers grass roots pull out. The report is below :

CHISELDON may have dropped down a couple of divisions but new boss James Lovell wants to take the club to the highest level possible.

Following ex-boss Chokri Kartit’s departure to Hellenic League Cirencester United, Chiseldon were left in the mire and in need of restructuring.

Lovell has taken on the managerial reins and claims the Wilts Division Two club already has the structure in place for Hellenic League football.

“We’ve basically had to start from scratch after Chokri left us last season,” said Lovell. “We decided to drop down two divisions, totally restructure the club and start again.

We have a good committee in place and a good squad capable of doing something this season.

“We could have stayed in the Premier but we decided against it. Now the aim is to challenge for promotion and maybe the title and get up to Division One or the Premier as soon as possible.

“I’ve signed experienced players like Sam Bailey and we have youngsters like Paul Farrell and Brent Evans. We have a good mix, we can do well.

It’s a bit of a mixed bag in Two though. You never know what teams will be like.”

Last season’s strugglers Blunsdon Reserves are hoping to turn their fortunes around with boss Paul Jones confident of a better season. Jones said: “It was a struggle last season and a very disappointing season for both sides. Both teams should be stronger this season and we are looking forward to it.” FC Chippenham Reserves are a new addition to the division and are expected to be a young and fit outfit. They are joined by newcomers Byrons Wanderers, Castle Combe Reserves, Greenmeadow, Moredon Cheney, Pembroke, Ramsbury and Wilton Town.

Pre-Season Training
It has been provisionally decided that the senior team will be looking to get together on Tuesday 24th June to start training for the forth coming season which begins in August.

The first few sessions will be based around basic fitness and ball work in order to give all the new players a chace to get to know one another.

Full training details are yet to be condfirmed but it is hoped that training will take place a Mannington at approx. 6:15 ever Tuesday evening.

I will inform all the players who have shown an interest once these details have been confirmed.

Senior Team Sponsor Required
The newly formed Chiseldon FC Senior team are actively seeking a sponsor to help them get started in the Wiltshire League Division 2.

The team are ideally looking for a sponsor to help pay for a football strip ( with the sponsors name across the front ) and any additional kit that they are able too.

In return, the sponsor will not only have their name across the teams strip but have a full page dedicated to their company/business on the website ( with links to their own website if appropriate ), an invite to the clubs annual presentation & social day, an invite to the clubs AGM plus up-dates on how well the team and club are progressing should they wish.

There are opportunities for smaller sponsorship should you be interested in the form of player sponsorship. This involvesd sponsoring training tops and track suits for individual players with your companies logo or name on the tops.

Should you be interested in sponsoring the club or feel you may be able to help out, please feel free to contact us via e-mail at admin@chiseldonfc.co.uk

Club Prentation And Fun Day
The clubs annual presentation day has been set for the 14th June at the Chiseldon football ground starting from mid-day.

There will be a full presentation of awards for all the youth teams followed by a BBQ and activities. We are hoping that this will be a good day out for the children and parents alike.
